Planet Ice Milton Keynes and MK Storm Junior Ice Hockey Club offer the perfect programs to introduce your child/children to Ice Hockey.

In order to play Ice Hockey, you first need to learn how to skate. Here are the 2 stages your child/children would need to follow:

Stage 1
Hockey Excellence
Ice Hockey Lessons Planet Ice.jpg

Hockey Excellence lessons at Planet Ice are aimed at complete beginners and will give learners the best start in learning the game.

Since the fundamentals of playing hockey involve skating, the lessons make sure the learner who has an interest in playing is starting off correctly with the tools to succeed. The lessons will cover both skating and hockey skills while progressing in a fun manner.

In a block of 6 lessons during the term, a skater will receive recognition for what they have achieved. Progression is individual, and some grades may take longer to complete. Skater's skills may vary, and it is essential that the learners develop at their own pace as each competency is a building block in the skaters' long-term development.

PLEASE NOTE: Right handed children need to use a hockey stick to their left side (left hand at bottom, right hand at top).

Stage 2
Join MK Storm

Once Level 4 (for U10s) or Level 6 (for U12, U14, U16, U18 & Storm Pathway) have been passed for Skate and Hockey Excellence then your child is ready to join our Club. Levels 5 and 6 of the Hockey Excellence programme should be completed by the time a player moves from U10's to U12's.  Players in all other age groups (U12s to U18s and including Storm Pathway) need to continue to complete Levels 7 and 8 of the Hockey Excellence programme.  Please contact Wendy who is our Registration Secretary to receive a Registration Pack. Once you have registered your child and paid, Wendy will organise your child's start date for training with MK Storm. For your child's/children's first training session they will need a complete set of kit. This can be viewed here. Please make sure you buy kit that fits your child now, rather than kit they need to grow into, as your child's safety may be compromised by incorrectly fitted kit.
