Result 1st Match

MK Storm vs Peterborough

With a local derby feel growing among the MK Storm and Peterborough games it took an ex-MK Storm player to break down the MK defence and take the lead for Peterborough. MK Storm responded well and if not for a few excellent saves from the Peterborough netminder, MK Storm could have taken the lead.

Powerful skating from C Calvert saw him make some space and strike a powerful shot from distance into the back of the net. Peterborough however extended the lead causing problems for MK Storm who defended valiantly throughout the lines with some outstanding performances to keep the score down. MK Storm still in the game but this derby wasn’t going to go MK’s way.

Great effort and organisation from the Peterborough team.

Result 2nd Match

MK Storm vs Orange Bibs (MK Storm & Peterborough players)

The Oranges scored the first goals with a neat play from Truong on loan to oranges that opened the MK Storm defence.

Nüth responded with a break-away finish that saw the teams draw even and this was capitalised on with a powerful strike from distance that hit the back of the net from C Calvert. The Oranges were not going to let them run away with it and dug in to score two quick succession goals and even up the game.

It took a series of good saves and blocking from netminder Pinto to keep MK Storm in the game and some respite came when Ding scored a nice wrap around goal to take the lead.

C Calvert around the midpoint of the game finished another long-range effort who MK Storm called upon to pull them out of danger. Nüth also followed C Calvert’s example by finishing on a 1:1 situation with the netminder.

Ding put the game to bed with three clinical finishes in the last 5 mins which also saw the Oranges pull two goals back. There wasn’t enough time left however and MK Storm won the game against a tricky hybrid side that were well organised.

Result 3rd Match

MK Storm vs Solihull

Solihull started the game and there were definite advancements on their shape and setup which you could see as they took an early lead.

Pinto had lots of defensive pressure and it took several saves to keep MK Storm in the game. After 9 mins MK Storm were down but Jordan turned the pressure up with his attacking skills. Solihull managed to finish another effort nicely.

Jordan’s continuing pressure managed to pull 2 goals back for MK Storm, showing improved recovery.

Great result Solihull.
