U10’s EIHA Fixture at Peterborough Planet Ice - 26th September 2021

Result 1st Match – MK Storm Won

MK Storm vs Solihull

Storm came out of the blocks very fast with their strong, pacey 1st line with Ayres making light work of the Solihull defensive zone smashing in two efforts to lead Storm on the front foot. Jordan and Willimott caused problems for the Solihull backline with their speed on the flanks and using the clinical finishing and neat passes through the slot to Ayres who quickly increased the goal distance between the teams.

Powerful C Calvert continued the pressure on Solihull with some great build up play and accurate finishing from Tonks and Pritchard who skillfully set up chance after chance.

Pond continued his strong display from the Ozone Tournament and added stability and creativity to a 3rd line that saw some success and good challenges against the Solihull 3rd.

Kenton and Nettey continued to support and cover that 3rd line which saw a number of good saves toward the end by Pinto to maintain an impressive score line.

Result 2nd Match – MK Storm Won

MK Storm vs Coventry

This saw Milton Keynes come out against 4 of the Storm brotherhood in the form of Ding, Nüth, Iacono and M Calvert who had all agreed to go out on loan to support Coventry but there was no love lost.

With Coventry short and needing to double shift, M Calvert was hard in defence and caused Storm problems early on. Eventually Coventry were broken down and the pacey front and second line began to find some success. Impressive goals from Willimott, Pritchard and a slap shot from the halfway found the back of the net for Storm with Coventry struggling from the onslaught.

This didn’t stop Coventry making a comeback however thanks to the MK contingent which saw Nüth slot away a 1:1 as he put distance between him and the MK players and Iacono making MK play defensively with some quick link up and skilful play from Ding and slotting home to the cheers of some of the MK parents and smiles from the MK bench.

MK began to find their rhythm after this period with Willimott, Jackson, C Calvert and Tonks digging in and scoring with a superb lone effort from Prichard that was beautifully slotted away sealing the fate of the game and opened up the gap on Coventry.

Result 3rd Match – MK Storm Won

MK Storm vs Peterborough

Close hard fought game that started off as quite a tense affair. Peterborough were defensively stronger than a lot of the other teams and it took some hard-fought skilful play to break the initial deadlock from Pritchard which saw a fanatic effort come close and finely slotting a goal into the top corner to cheers of the MK travelling fans. Pond dug in and scored and executed continuously in front of goal to pile the pressure on Peterborough but the Peterborough team fought back to keep the game on close terms.

Late on there were some nervous moments that required three great saves from Pinto and clever play from Nettey and Kenton to make sure MK continued with possession and kept the dangerous Peterborough front line at bay.

Pritchard with another skilled individual left the Peterborough backline watching as he slotted in the seventh goal for storm and looked like it had sealed the victory even though there were a few more saves required from Pinto to maintain the 2 goal lead and victory for Storm.

Pinto was named Player of the Game over the three games as he maintained the three wins with critical saves against the tough Peterborough side!

Well done MK Storm U10’s.
